1,200 unemployed transport workers given groceries at Mohakhali bus stand
Using personal funds, Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary general of BSPMS, distributed groceries to workers
On Sunday, Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity (BSPMS) and managing director of ENA Transport Limited, distributed food items to 1,200 unemployed transport workers affected by the ongoing lockdown.
He distributed rice, potatoes, oil, pulses and onions among the workers, using his own funds at the capital's Mohakhali bus terminal, reads a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Khandaker Enayet Ullah said all public transport is closed due to the restrictions announced by the government.

He urged all transport owners and leaders of transport companies to come forward from their respective places to help the workers.
"Stand by these helpless transport workers. I have started on my own initiative in a small way from today. Today we have distributed food among these 1200 unemployed workers. You too can start and stand by them," he said.
Bangladesh is undergoing a transport shutdown as part of the ongoing nationwide 'strict lockdown' imposed last week to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"Transport workers do not get paid during lockdown," said Enayet Ullah, adding that meals have been arranged for workers at every terminal.
Among others, Dhaka District Bus-Minibus Road Transport Workers Union President Sadiqur Rahman Hiru, General Secretary Md Shahidullah Sadu, Mohakhali Bus Terminal Bus Owners' Association President Alhaj Mohammad Abul Kalam, Vice-President Shawkat Ali Babul, and General Secretary Abdul Malek, were also present on the occasion.
