Launch gets stuck in Meghna River, passengers rescued

A passenger launch with more than 500 people on board got stuck in the River Meghna in Kaliganj area of Mehendiganj upazila in Barisal early today.
The trapped launch MV Shahrukh-2 left Barguna for Dhaka around 4pm on Tuesday and got stuck in the char of Meghna in Kaliganj area around 3am, some passengers of the launch told the Business Standard.
"Another launch MV Pubali-1 arrived at the spot around 10am and rescued the passengers," said Masud Shakdar, one of the commuters of the launch.

MV Pubali-1 left the area for Dhaka with the passengers of the trapped launch who took shelter at the char after the launched stuck there, he added.
No causality or damage was reported.
