7-murder on cargo vessel: Bodies handed over to families, probe committee formed

The bodies of seven men, murdered on a cargo vessel on the Meghna River in Haimechar of Chandpur, have been handed over to their families.
The incident has prompted the district administration to form a probe committee headed by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ekramul Siddique.
The four-member committee also includes representatives from the Coast Guard, River Police, and district police, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Chandpur Mohammad Mohsin Uddin to UNB.
The bodies were handed over to the families this afternoon (24 December) at the morgue located beside the city's Swarnakhola Road.

Mohsin Uddin said, "We have completed the process of handing over the seven victims' bodies to their families this afternoon. The probe committee will submit its report within 10 working days. A case will be filed today, and a family member will file the case at the Haimechar Police Station regarding the incident."
The bodies had been recovered on Monday by the Coast Guard and River Police from the MV Al Bakhira, a cargo vessel on the Meghna River.
