As part of the e-payment policy adopted by the revenue board, the country's taxpayers will be able to pay their income tax through bKash from anywhere round the clock, a press release issued by the company says.
Taxpayers can avail this opportunity by opting bKash payment from the e-payment gateway of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Besides, there will also be an NBR logo in the suggestion box of bKash app, which will redirect taxpayers to the payment gateway if they tap on it.
The NBR will launch this e-payment service at the week-long income tax fair to start on Thursday. The service will remain accessible to taxpayers even after the end of the fair.
A Tax Identification Number (TIN) holder to pay tax, needs to visit www.nbrepayment.gov.bd, tap on 'Sign in' option and insert ID and password. By clicking on 'tax' under the 'Pay Income Tax' option and providing TIN number on the next page, there will have a 'Verify TIN' option.
After verification, the TIN holder needs to fill up necessary information and to click on 'Submit' button. After submitting, the user will go in the 'Payment Method' page. Then, he or she needs to select 'bKash' from 'Mobile Payment' option and insert the bKash account and PIN number to complete the process. After completion of the process, the taxpayer will get a confirmation message.
However, those who don't have TINs, also can pay income tax by selecting the 'Unregistered' option and following some subsequent procedures.
For tax payment through bKash, no charge will be applied on the customers at the income tax fair, but a 1.1 percent charge will be applied later on.
bKash, a joint venture of Brac Bank, US based Money in Motion, International Finance Corporation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ant Financial, went into operation in 2011, as a digital financial service provider under the regulation of Bangladesh Bank.
