Babunagari’s PA arrested in Chattogram
Enamul is allegedly accused in several cases
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Enamul Hasan Farooqui, personal assistant (PA) and press secretary to Hefazat-e-Islam convener Junaid Babungari, in connection with multiple cases.
A team from the RAB-7 picked him up from the Fatehabad area in Hathazari upazila on Friday night.
RAB-7 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mashiur Rahman said, "Enamul faces several cases – including the murder case of Hefazat ameer Shah Ahmad Shafi."
RAB members are quizzing Enamul Hasan Farooqui. After interrogation, he will be handed over to Hathazari police, he added.
Four people were killed in police firing at Hathazari as the protest by Hefazat men against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on 26 March turned violent.
Later, Hefazat leaders and activists on March 27-28 carried out mayhem in different parts of the country, particularly in Brahmanbaria, and Patiya Upazila of Chattogram.
Initially, police filed seven cases with the Hathazari Police Station in Chattogram.
Later on 22 April, three more cases were filed accusing Junaid Babunagari, the ameer of Hefazat's recently dissolved committee, for the violence.
