Man jailed for killing, selling bats in Natore
The court sentenced Amal Sardar to six months of jail under the Bangladesh Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act, 2012
A mobile court in Natore has sentenced a man to six months of jail for killing huge number of bats and selling those.
The convict is Amal Sardar, 55, son of late Surja Sardar of Kongsadipur village in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore.
Executive Magistrate Tasmina Khatun on Sunday (Nov 24) punished him under section 34 (Kha) of the Bangladesh Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act, 2012 when police produced him before it.

Debashish Dey, officer in-charge of Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, Rajshahi Range was present at the court.
Earlier on that day, Highway police detained Amal along with two sacks of dead bats from Chandpur area in Sadar upazila of Natore, said officer in charge of Jholmolia highway police Mozammel Huq.
Tipped off, police conducted a drive in the area. During the time, they challenged Amal who was carrying two sacks and the bag. During the interrogation, Amal admitted that he was carrying dead bats in the sacks and sold each at Tk20 to Tk25 to the people of indigenous communities.
They have brought those for eating, Amal claimed.
The recovered bats were buried after being smeared with kerosene.
