24 fraudsters arrested, 101 victims rescued from Uttara

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 24 people for allegedly committing fraud by offering jobs in a so-called multi-level marketing company in the capital's Uttara area.
Additional Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin Chowdhury of RAB-11 said tipped off, a team of RAB members conducted a raid at Lifeway Bangladesh Pvt Ltd at Sector 10, Uttara on Sunday night and arrested the alleged fraudsters.
The law enforcers recovered a large number of false documents and rescued 101 job seekers from the office, he said at a media briefing in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
In primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they used to give fake advertisement in daily newspapers for recruiting employees. They also used to collect money from people in the name of providing job. They have taken Tk55,000 as security money from each job seekers.
Some of the victims alleged that the fraudsters used to torture them.
The law enforcers also seized eight monitors and cash money amounting to Tk31,200 from the office.
