All staff of Supreme Court’s affidavit section transferred
The Chief Justice expressed his disappointment on affidavit section over the failure to prevent irregularities
The Supreme Court administration on Tuesday transferred all the officials and employees of the Appellate Division's affidavit section on charge of irregularities.
Saifur Rahman, special officer of the apex court, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Earlier on Monday, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain expressed his disappointment over the failure to prevent irregularities even after installing CCTV cameras in the affidavit section.
On that day, the Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said, "A case hearing that was third on the list on Monday, surprisingly went down to 89 of the appellate division's cause-list."
"Many people have turned into millionaires just by changing the cause-list serials", he added.
He sought explanation from the appellate division regarding the matter.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said that CCTV camera installation at the affidavit section could not stop that malpractice.
He said, many state prosecutors do not even bother to come to the court, probably because they are highly paid.
The chief justice, then, summoned Deputy Registrar Mehedi Hasan in an order.
Mehedi's explanation angered the appellate division led by the chief justice.
Later, Syed Mahmud Hossain ordered Mehedi to perform his duty sincerely.
