7 die in 24 hours as extreme cold hits coastal Satkhira
According the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the lowest and highest temperature of Satkhira on Saturday was 11 degree Celsius and 19 degree Celsius respectively
Due to extreme cold, seven people have died in coastal district Satkhira. In 24 hours from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening, these people died in Shyamnagar upazila's Kaikhali union.
The deceased were identified as Zarina (70), wife of late Ahmed from ward-9, Khayrat Gazi (75), son of late Echhem Gazi, and Abdul Gazi (70) from ward-4, Lutfor Gazi (70), son of late Omor Gazi from ward-3, Rauf Gazi (90), son of late Box Gazi, and Hamid Gazi (76) from ward-2, and Bhadra Bala Mondol (45), wife of Binoy Kumar Mondol from ward-6.
Sheikh Abdur Rahim, the chairman of the Kaikhali union, confirmed the reason of their death to The Business Standard.
But, Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Kamruzzaman said he had no information regarding any death due to cold weather in the area.
These people might have died due to complexities for all of them were aged, he added.
