Sultan Ahmed made new secretary of Power Division
He studied civil engineering and transportation engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet)
The Ministry of Public Administration has appointed Dr Sultan Ahmed as the secretary of the Power Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Tuesday.
He succeeds Dr Ahmed Kaikaus, former senior secretary of the Power Division, who was appointed as the principle secretary to the prime minister recently.
Dr Sultan Ahmed had been working with the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartiphakkha (Rajuk) before joining the Power Division.
Dr Ahmed was born in Charfassion Upazila of Bhola in 1961.
He studied civil engineering and transportation engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
As an officer of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), 1986 batch, he joined the Irrigation, Water Development and Flood protection ministry in 1989.
He earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in water resources development at Buet.
Dr Ahmed also studied engineering and technology in water resources development and management at Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in Netherlands, Lund University in Sweden, Tsukuba Science
University in Japan, and Gothenburg University in Sweden.
He has worked at different departments of the government including Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, Barisal District Administration, Water Resources Ministry and Environment Department.
