Rossouw's wicket my best delivery: Hasan Mahmud
Rossouw, who has been brilliant throughout this BPL, had no answer to Hasan’s incredible delivery and only could edge it to the keeper Anamul Haque to go back to the hut.
Dhaka Platoon's young seamer Hasan Mahmud has impressed in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 2019-20 with his pace and brilliance, and he managed to spellbind the crowd with a ripper to dismiss Rilee Rossouw in Dhaka's match against Khulna Tigers.
Rossouw, who has been brilliant throughout this BPL, had no answer to Hasan's incredible delivery and only could edge it to the keeper Anamul Haque to go back to the hut. Hasan ended the match with four wickets, including Rossouw's and the vital scalp of Khulna skipper Mushfiqur Rahim who almost took the game from Dhaka's grasp.
After winning the man of the match award, Hasan said in the post-match press conference that the delivery with which he got Rossouw out was the best of his career.
"This was obviously the best delivery otherwise I wouldn't have dismissed him. My plan was to bowl stump to stump to Rossouw because he plays very well if he is given room," the 20-year old said.
Hasan said that Rossouw's wicket was the most pleasing one of the match and further added, "The ball hit a very good length and bounced, that is why it felt very good to get the wicket."
Questioned about how he planned to bowl to Mushfiqur, who looked in devastating touch, Hasan answered that it was very tough bowling to Mushfiqur but he tried to bowl wide yorkers.
"It is very tough to bowl to Mushfiq bhai because he plays almost 360 degrees. The plan for him was to keep three fielders on the off-side and bowl wide yorkers. He then got out to a slower full toss when I tried to do something different," Hasan said.
Hasan got Robbie Frylinck with a backhand slower delivery and was asked since when he was practising it. Hasan replied, "I am practising the backhand slower from the Emerging Cup. Bijoy (Anamul Haque) helped from behind the wickets, told me to do change-ups."
This edition of the BPL is the breakthrough season for Hasan. Questioned how his tournament was going, Hasan replied that it was going well so far and he hopes to continue.
"The tournament is going pretty well. I am very excited as this is my first time and I am in a good side where seniors like Mashrafe, Tamim, Mominul is. I will try to play in the same way I have for the rest of the tournament."
Hasan further added, "The seniors have advised me to stay confident and not get nervous and said that I would be successful if I bowled in good spots."
The youngster also added that it was his plan before the tournament to try to play well as this was his first venture in such a big tournament.
Hasan so far has picked up nine wickets in this BPL but has mostly impressed with his consistent pace and line-length.
