DU Business Studies team wins CFA Institute Research Challenge in Bangladesh
The country-level champion will compete in the Asia Pacific regional round of the global investment research competition
A team from the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka (DU), has won the country-level finale of the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2019-20, says a press release.
Now the team advances to the Asia Pacific regional round to be held in Seoul, South Korea, tocompete against universities from Asia Pacific countries.
The country-level finale of this globally prestigious competition was held at The Westin hotel in Dhaka on January 4. A team from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, became the first runner up and a team from Bangladesh University of Professionals, came out as the second runner up.
Shahidul Islam, president of CFA Society Bangladesh and Asif Khan, coordinator of the country-level competition in Bangladesh spoke at the closing ceremony and handed over certificates and prize money of Tk3, 50, 000 to the winning team.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for an annual competition.
Students research, analyze, and report on a company. The local level competitions are held in conjunction with the participating universities to assemble teams of three to five business and finance students. The students later work directly with a company in researching and preparing a company analysis.
The local champions then advance to regional competitions for the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) regions and then to the Global Final.
The local round of the competition started on October 5, 2019 and 103 teams from 27 universities or institutes around the country participated in this competition.
