Counterfeit notes worth Tk39 lakh seized in Khulna
All the seized fake notes were of Tk1000
Police on Saturday held a man with counterfeit 1000-taka banknotes with a face value of Tk39 lakh from Khulna's zero point area.
The arrestee SM Mamun, 43, is the son of S M Matlab of Paikpara village in Bagerhat Sadar upazila.
"Police nabbed Mamun from the capitals zero point area on Saturday around 1:30 pm," said Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Sheikh Moniruzzaman Mithu.
Officer-in-Charge of Khulna's Labonchora Police Station Abdul Khair said a case is under process in this connection.
Earlier on Thursday Khalispur Police arrested two people from its area with equipment to produce counterfeit currency. They also seized counterfeit currency worth Tk4000, three colour printers, one laminating machine, a laptop, digital plate to create fake notes and other equipment.
The Koyra thana police arrested Ishaq Ali, 48, with six Tk500 counterfeit notes earlier on Friday.
