World's first Muslim LGBTQ+ festival to be held in London

The world's first Muslim LGBTQ+ pride festival is set to take place in London next month.
Imaan, United Kingdom's leading Muslim LGBTIQ+ charity has taken the initiative naming the event ''Imaan Fest : The world's first Muslim Pride festival", reported SBS.
The groundbreaking event is expected to take place on April 11 after the organizers raised close to $20,000 through a successful crowdfunding campaign.

The organizaers said in a statement, "The event features panels, discussions, speakers, arts, culture and history – a first for LGBTQI Muslims."
Trans activist Asifa Lahore, one of the panelists to attend this festival said it was an "absolute honour" to be involved in the festival.
"We have had to fight Islamophobia, Homophobia, Transphobia and Racism to get our voices heard and being part of this celebration is an opportunity to share the message that we are here, we are queer and some of us don't drink beer!" she added.
