NGO worker arrested for carrying yaba pills
Mobina, along with the pills, was handed over to Ramu Police Station
Members of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a woman with 920 yaba pills from Maricha area on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway on Sunday.
Mobina Yasmin (22), the arrested woman, is a resident of Khutakhali area under Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
During a regular checking on passenger vehicles, BGB men found yaba pills in Mobina’s possession, said BGB sources. Mobina, along with the pills, was handed over to Ramu Police Station.
Abul Khaer, officer-in-charge at Ramu Police Station, said that the woman claimed herself to be a NGO employee. The process of filing a case against her under narcotics law is underway.
Many NGO workers, working in Rohingya camps, have been found to be involved in various criminal activities. “There have been instances of police and BGB arresting NGO workers, working in Rohingya camps, with yaba in their possession, which is alarming,” said Abu Morshed Chowdhury Khoka, an expert on non-government organization.
