Lightning kills 2 kids, injures 3 in Cox’s Bazar
The bodies are in the custody of the family
Two children were killed and three more injured after being struck by lightning at Shaplapur union under Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Osman Gani, 10, son of Sarwar and Sadia Akter, 10, daughter of Abdul Jabbar Ghonapara village of Shaplapur union.
Sadia's younger sister Saima Jannat (6), Shamsul Alam, 40 and Laila Begum, 45 were seriously injured.

Confirming the incident, Mohammad Hossain, a member of Shapalapur Union Parishad (UP) said that the injured were rushed to the Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.
He said that Osman was returning home with livestock from cropland beside his house. His sister Daisy and cousin Sadia were playing with him. Others were working in the same field a short distance away.
Sudden lightning struck on them, killing Osman and Sadia on the spot. The rest were seriously injured.
Maheshkhali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Provash Chandra Dhar said that a police team was sent to the spot after being informed about the matter.
The bodies are in the custody of the family.
