Bangladeshi RMG factories start making masks, donating: Rubana Huq
BGMEA will hand over 100,000 masks to local authorities on Wednesday
Readymade garment factories in Bangladesh have started making masks and donating them to hospitals spontaneously, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Dr Rubana Huq said.
So if you have any requirement, please let us know whom to give them to, apart from hospitals, she added.
BGMEA will hand over 100,000 masks to local authorities on Wednesday, she further said.
Meanwhile, Shwapna Bhowmick, Country Manager of Marks and Spencer (M&S) shared with us that M&S has already started making suits for doctors, the BGMEA chief also said.
She said, "A few fabric mills have developed water repellent fabric, on a test basis. They are sending us the samples now. Won't be perfect, but at least it will do for the time being.
Rubna said, Marks and Spencer are ready to make masks as soon as they get the fabric.
In a Facebook post, Shwapna Bhowmick wrote that, "These will be given free of cost to doctors and nurses. We are still working on getting the product quality right. Let's spread kindness in this difficult time."
