Bhairab accident causes schedule disruption for five trains
Five trains bound for different parts of the country from Dhaka faced schedule disruptions due to the accident in Bhairab, which has claimed at least 17 lives.
The Noakhali Express, initially slated to depart Kamalapur Railway Station at 7:15pm, eventually left for Noakhali at 9:10pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, both the Upaban Express and Surma Mail trains were scheduled to depart at 8:30pm and 9:00pm respectively; however, as of the time of reporting at 10:00 pm, they remained stranded at the station.
Similarly, the Mahanagar Express bound for Chattogram could not commence its journey as scheduled at 9:20pm.
Kamalapur Station Manager Masud Sarwar said the accident led to the closure of several rail tracks, causing delays for trains passing through Bhairab.
However, Masud assured that Dhaka-bound trains were operating smoothly, and efforts were underway to rectify the schedule disruptions promptly.
He said no trains had been canceled, affirming that all services would continue, albeit potentially delayed.
Masud also advised that trains heading towards the eastern region might still experience minor delays on Monday.
