Music room of Baul Shah Abdul Karim’s disciple burnt down
Many musical instruments and important books of Baul song, kept in the room, turned into ashes
The music room of Baul Ranesh Thakur, a disciple of Baul Shah Abdul Karim, was set on fire on early Monday in Sunamganj.
The incident took place in Ujaldhal village of Derai upazila in the district where Baul Ranesh lives.
The fire burnt musical instruments and important books of Baul song, kept in the room, for performing musical programmes.

Family sources said that Baul Ranesh's residence is located beside the one of Baul Shah Abdul Karim.
Shah Abdul Karim received support from Baul Ranesh's father, namely when the fundamentalist went against him.
Baul Ranesh's late brother Ruhi Thakur turned into a disciple of Shah Abdul Karim. Later, he also became a disciple of the mystic bard.
Both the brothers would address Shah Abdul Karim as "Guru Bhai."
Family sources also said that the music room was used to hold musical events.
At around 1pm, Ranesh's sister-in-law started screaming, seeing the fire. When everyone came out to douse the flame, it already burned the music room to ashes.
The fire destroyed many musical instruments which Ranesh collected for many years. So, he was seen sitting, next to the ruin, upset.
Expressing anger at the incident, the local cultural activists demanded exemplary punishment of the miscreants.
Bijay Sen Roy, an executive member of Sunamganj Shilpakala Academy, said, "Baul Ranesh Thakur is one of the prominent Bauls in the district. He is also a leading disciple of Baul Shah Abdul Karim. He has no enemies. We demand justice for this incident."
"All the musical instruments turned into ashes. So, I asked him about the suspects. But he couldn't say anyone's name," said Sub-Inspector Zahirul Islam of Dirai police station.
"To find out the miscreants, an investigation is underway."
