First death of a nurse from Covid-19 in the country

A nurse in Sylhet has died from Covid-19 on Friday night. This is the first death of a nurse from the virus in the country.
The deceased, Ruhul Amin, was a nurse at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital in Sylhet and undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Confirming the death of the nurse, the hospital's resident medical officer, Sushant Kumar Mohapatra, said, "He had been hospitalised for several days due to Covid-19. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Friday evening due to deteriorating physical condition. He died there at night."
Israel Ali Sadeq, general secretary of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital branch of Bangladesh Nurses Association, said, "Ruhul Amin was working as a nursing officer at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital. He himself became infected with coronavirus while serving patients. He died as the first brother (nurse) in Bangladesh after being infected with coronavirus while on duty."
Sylhet's Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital was declared as Corona Isolation Centre and Covid-19 patients are being treated there.
Meanwhile, 13 officers of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -9 have also been identified to be coronavirus positive. On Friday, the members of RAB's Sylhet unit were identified in a sample test at the PCR lab of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
This is also the first time that a RAB member has been tested positive in Sylhet.
"Samples of our 18 members were sent to the lab for testing on Friday. Of these, 13 reports came positive," said ASP of RAB-9 (Media).
He added that most of those identified showed no symptoms. The rest have mild fevers.
