IUB Student Joins Prestigious CERN Programme
James Peter Gomes, an undergraduate Physics student at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has achieved a remarkable feat by being selected for the prestigious CERN Summer Student Programme 2024. Gomes was the sole Bangladeshi among 300 students chosen from a pool of over 10,500 applicants worldwide.
A research student at IUB's Centre for Computational and Data Sciences (CCDS), Gomes participated in the eight-week fully-funded programme at CERN's Meyrin site in Geneva, Switzerland, from 24 June to 16 August 2024. CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, is a global leader in scientific research, renowned for its pioneering work in particle physics, particularly the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
