No rehabilitation for fascists in politics before full justice: Adviser Asif
He said the law ministry has already taken initiatives so that they are tried for their “crimes against humanity”
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud said today (5 September) that there is no scope for rehabilitation of the fascists in politics until their trials are fully completed.
"We have already seen various programmes in several places aimed at rehabilitating the defeated fascist forces in different ways," he told reporters during a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Though he did not mention any specific political parties, he referred to parties and their alliances that "established the fascist regime".
He said it is up to the people to decide whether fascists will be allowed to participate in politics.
The adviser said the government has not yet specifically discussed how to implement a ban on public programmes by fascists, but added, "We will certainly discourage such programmes."
He also said the law ministry has already started taking steps to address crimes against humanity during the recent student-led movement.
In response to a question about whether the Awami League would be banned, he said the decision would ultimately be made by the people of the country.
