Shakib shines for Surrey with 8-wicket haul, but fails with bat again
He claimed four wickets for 97 runs in the first innings.
Shakib Al Hasan, a Surrey all-rounder, struggled with the bat but recovered well with the ball on Day 3 of their County Division One match against Somerset on Wednesday.
Shakib, who made 12 in Surrey's first innings, was dismissed by left-arm spinner Jack Leach after chipping a flighted delivery back to the bowler to end an uncomfortable 24-ball stay at the crease. Surrey opened up a four-run lead in response to Somerset's 317 in the opening inning.
But, as he frequently does, Shakib pulled his weight with the ball, taking four wickets, the same number he had in the first innings, to reduce Somerset to 194 for nine at stumps.
The great all-rounder now has eight wickets in the contest. He claimed four wickets for 97 runs in the first innings.
