Bangladesh bounce back with victories in 45th Chess Olympiad
Both the men's and women's team rebounded after losses in the previous round, each now sitting on four points.
The Bangladesh men's and women's teams both secured important wins in the third round of the 45th Chess Olympiad, defeating Cyprus and Barbados 3.5-0.5, respectively, on 18 august in Budapest, Hungary.
In the open section, IM Fahad Rahman triumphed over FM Michaelides Konstantinos, while GM Enamul Hossain overcame CM Savva Panikos. FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, making his tournament debut, also delivered a win against Kefalas Loukas. FM Manon Reja Neer drew his match against Isaakidis Alexandros.
In the women's section, WFM Noshin Anjum secured victory against WCM Wilson Hannah, while WCM Wadifa Ahmed defeated WCM Reifer-Belle Chanon. WIM Rani Hamid, also playing her first match of the event, won against Springer Leshay. WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo drew her game with WCM Blackman Katrina.
Both teams will look to build on this momentum as the tournament progresses.
