Another 850kg hilsa seized while being trafficked to India
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 850kg of hilsa while being smuggled across the Indian border in Cumilla.
The fish was seized around 5:00pm today (15 September) from Chanpur Bridge area in Sadar Upazila's Pachthubi union, BGB 10 Commanding Officer Lt Md Iftekhar Hossain confirmed The Business Standard.
He said the 850kg of hilsha worth over Tk9 lakh were illegally transported in 35 boxes.
The smugglers fled when they saw the BGB approaching, he added.
The seized fish was sold at Tk9.52 lakh and the money was deposited into the government treasury.
Earlier, BGB seized 440kg of Hilsha on 13 September and 650kg of Hilsha on 11 September near the Indian border in the Cumilla.
