Ctg factory fined Tk2 lakh for bottling water without BSTI licence
Based on information provided by the National Security Intelligence the mobile court raided the ARS Alam Agro Food and Beverage (Mountain Drinking Water) factory at noon in the Chinkirhat area of Mirsarai’s Hinguli Union
A mobile court today (2 October) fined a local factory Tk2 lakh for various violations, including bottling water without a Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) licence, in Chattogram's Mirsarai.
"Based on information provided by the National Security Intelligence the mobile court raided the ARS Alam Agro Food and Beverage (Mountain Drinking Water) factory at noon in the Chinkirhat area of Mirsarai's Hinguli Union," Mirsarai Assistant Commissioner (Land) Prashant Chakraborty told The Business Standard.
"The company was found using the BSTI standard mark on its packaged drinking water without possessing a valid quality certificate, which is a violation of the BSTI Act 2018. For this offence, a fine of Tk1 lakh was imposed.
"Additionally, another fine of Tk1 lakh was levied under the Weight and Measurement Standards Act for failing to obtain a packaging registration certificate for the product," the commissioner added.
He further said the company has been ordered to halt production until it secures a valid CM (Certification Mark) licence from BSTI.
Engineer Md Mahfuzur Rahman, BSTI Field Officer (CM), Inspector (Metrology) Bulbul Ahmed Joy, NSI Chittagong officers, and members of the Jorarganj Police Station were present during the raid.
