'We need better planning'
Shanto believes better planning is needed to perform well in these two matches. He indirectly pointed to a lack of proper planning as the reason for their defeat in the first match.
In the first T20 of the three-match series, Bangladesh put up hardly any fight against India. With lacklustre batting and bowling, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team accepted a heavy defeat. On the same pitch where India dominated in both departments, Bangladesh's cricketers surrendered helplessly. After such a defeat, Bangladesh captain Shanto is searching for better planning.
In the next T20, Bangladesh will face India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 9 October. The final T20 match will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on 12 October. Shanto believes better planning is needed to perform well in these two matches. He indirectly pointed to a lack of proper planning as the reason for their defeat in the first match.
After being crushed by India, the Bangladesh captain expressed his disappointment at not getting off to a good start during the post-match presentation ceremony. Shanto said, "We didn't get off to a good start. The first six overs are very important in T20 cricket, but we didn't begin well. The plan was to play positive cricket and show intent from the first ball, but we spent a few overs trying to settle in."
The left-handed batsman said better plans are needed for the remaining matches, stating, "We need better planning for the upcoming games. If we had wickets in hand, we could have added another 10-15 runs. In terms of bowling, we didn't have enough runs on the board. It's very difficult for the bowlers on such a wicket. We needed more runs, but I think Rishad and Mustafiz bowled well."
Having lost the toss and been sent to bat first, most of Bangladesh's batsmen failed. Playing T20 cricket after almost 15 months, Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored the highest with 35 runs, while Shanto made the second-highest score of 27. Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in 19.5 overs. In reply, with commanding batting from Samson, Suryakumar, and Hardik, India chased down the target in 11.5 overs, winning by 7 wickets. The hosts won with 49 balls to spare, marking their fourth-biggest T20 victory in terms of balls remaining.
