Ex-chairman of EXIM Bank Nazrul lands in jail
A court today (9 October) sent Nazrul Islam Mazumder, former chairman of EXIM Bank, to jail in a case lodged over the murder of Emon Hossain Gazi during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Akteruzzaman passed the order today as police produced Nazrul, also the founder of Nassa Group, after the end of his seven-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the end of the probe.
A team of detective branch (DB) of police arrested Nazrul Islam Mazumder from the Gulshan area in the city on October 1. He was placed on a seven-day remand in the case the next day.
Emon Hossain Gazi was gunned down in the Chittagong Road area of Jatrabari on August 5. His brother filed the case with Jatrabari Police Station on August 28 against 85 people.
