Cobra-venom worth Tk50cr seized in Dinajpur
RAB officials suspect that the venom was smuggled into the country from India
A RAB team confiscated cobra-venom worth Tk50cr on Sunday from a medical centre in Dinajpur.
The RAB-13 team raided Palli Shasthya Sheba Nursing Home, 10 New Town in Dinajpur city on a tip-off, and confiscated the venom stored in six specially designed jars.
RAB officials suspect that the venom was smuggled into the country from India, and was intended to be sold in the lucrative international market for snake-poison.
France was named as the producing country on a brass plate attached to the jars, RAB sources said. A manual was also found along with the jars.
A village doctor named Ruhul Amin, son of late Bashir Uddin from village Mahmudpur, has been arrested on suspicion of smuggling in the expensive venom. A case is supposed to be filed at the Kotwali Police Station over this issue.
