The government has provided Tk25,00 as compensation each to the families of those killed in a gas cylinder blast in a bus in Lakshmipur.
Besides, the government will also bear the medical treatment expense of those injured in the incident, Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarker told The Business Standard after visiting the injured at the Sadar hospital today (14 October).
A five-member probe panel has been formed to investigate the incident that killed three and injured another nine, he also said.
The panel will be headed by Additional District Magistrate Priyanka Dutta. Other members will include an additional superintendent of police, a BRTA official, a Bakhrabad Gas Department official, and a Fire Service and Civil Defence official.
The explosion took place at the Green Leaf Filling Station when a bus was refueling its gas cylinder was being refilled at around 2:00am last night.
The deceased were identified as Md Hridoy, 19, son of Siraj of Ward-13 of Lakshmipur municipality; Md Yusuf Mia, son of Sujamia of Banchanagar area of Ward-2, and Sujan, son of Botu Miah of Sadar upazila.
Among the injured were Shahid Ullah, Suman Hossain, Rocky Islam, Muhammad Fahad Hossain, Siraj Mia, Hriday Islam, Shah Khan, and Abdul Malek, reports UNB.
Al Amin, the manager of the filling station, said the victims were mostly CNG-run autorickshaw drivers and the injured included both bus and CNG drivers.
