65-year-old gets life sentence for child rape in Barishal
A Barishal court today (15 October) sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a case filed over raping a 12-year-old girl.
The convict, Abu Taleb Sardar, 65, was also fined Tk50,000.
Barishal Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Yearob Hossain passed the order this noon, the court's bench assistant Kazi Humayun Kabir told The Business Standard.

The court will issue another order later regarding the victim and the child born in the rape incident, he added.
The bench assistant said sometime between February and April 2017, Abu Taleb Sardar allegedly raped his neighbor's girl.
After family members found out that the girl had become pregnant, the father filed a case with Gournadi Model Police Station accusing Abu Taleb of rape, Humayun Kabir added.
"On 30 September 2017, SI Tariqul Islam of Gournadi Model Police Station submitted the charge sheet to the court accusing Abu Taleb Sardar. The judge gave the verdict after taking testimonies of seven people," he further added.
