Coast Guard and Police arrest most-wanted robbers in joint operation in Cox's Bazar
Bangladesh Coast Guard, in collaboration with Bangladesh Police apprehended two of the country's most-wanted robbers during a joint operation on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The operation, led by skilled teams from the Coast Guard's Eastern Zone, took place in Mohammad Shah Ghona, Ward No. 07 of Kalarmarchhara Union, Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, following intelligence reports on the whereabouts of armed criminal suspects.
At around 5:20 am, the joint forces moved into the area, targeting a tin-roofed hideout identified as the robbers' location. As authorities closed in, the suspects attempted to escape but were quickly intercepted. Among those arrested were Md. Ziaur Rahman (44), the infamous leader of the Zia gang, and his associate, Md. Mohiuddin (38).
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a foreign pistol, which had previously been reported stolen from the Bangladesh Police, a locally made firearm, two magazines, 22 rounds of ammunition, and a machete. Lieutenant Commander Khondker Munif Taki, Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed that both the apprehended suspects and the seized items are being processed for legal action.
