Scientist Zahid Hasan elected in American Academy of Arts and Sciences
The Bangladeshi American physicist, Professor of Princeton University secured this position this year along with 250 outstanding individuals
Bangladeshi born American Physicist M Zahid Hasan has been elected in the esteemed American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The academy announced this year's elected members on April 23.
Hasan is a Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics at the Princeton University. After studying as a fellow on fundamental quantum effects in exotic superconductors, topological insulators and quantum magnets, he joined there as a faculty in 2002.

Princeton University wrote in their website, "Last year, Hasan's lab led research that discovered that certain classes of crystals with an asymmetry like biological handedness, known as chiral crystals, may harbor electrons that behave in unexpected ways. In 2015, he led a research team that first observed Weyl fermions, which, if applied to next-generation electronics, could allow for a nearly free and efficient flow of electricity in electronics, and thus greater power, especially for computers."
Earlier, In 2014, he led a group of scientists who discovered the wonder particle - "Weyl Fermion" - which proved the century long theory of massless fermion particle.
Before that in 2013, Hasan was named a fellow of the American Physical Society for the experimental discovery of three-dimensional topological insulators — a new kind of quantum matter.
Hasan, who was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh left for the US after finishing HSC from Dhaka College. He completed his graduation from the University of Texas on Physics and Mathematics. Later, he obtained a PhD from Stanford University.
