Celebrities bid farewell to TikTok
With the ban on TikTok in the US, celebrities have been lamenting the loss of the short-form video hosting app. The app was officially shut down in the US on 18 January 2025.
Commemorating the app, Charlie Puth's last post was a video of him playing the song, 'See You Again'. The post was captioned, "Farewell TikTok. Although this isn't goodbye…"
Addison Rae also turned to the app to share her feelings. In a simple post, she wrote, "I don't know the words that will suffice. Transformative arc in the story of my life. Accept my endless gratitude.."
Addison Rae's career had begun through videos on TikTok which gradually uplifted her career into the music industry. She released her first song in 2021 titled, 'Obsessed', later releasing more fan-favourites such as, 'Diet Pepsi'.
Kesha had a more lighthearted approach saying, "TikTok may be temporary but TiK ToK is forever," referencing her 2010 hit song.
