Ban-Tech buys broadcasting rights for Bangladesh vs Windies series
The Bangladesh-based advertising agency bought the rights from Gazi TV through an open bidding process. Gazi TV and T-Sports also participated in the bidding.
The broadcasting rights of the upcoming ODI and Test series between Bangladesh and West Indies have been acquired by Ban-Tech, confirmed BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
The Bangladesh-based advertising agency bought the rights from Gazi TV through an open bidding process. Gazi TV and T-Sports also participated in the bidding.
Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said, "Ban-Tech has bought the broadcasting rights for a record amount. They have a TV channel of their own. They can broadcast the matches on their channel and can sell the rights to other established channels as well."
The CEO didn't disclose the amount but according to a source from the board, the rights have been sold to Ban-Tech for 17.97 crore BDT.
The bids from Gazi TV and T-Sports were worth 17.955 crore and 17.9 crore respectively.
The BCB sold TV rights to Gazi TV for 163 crore BDT for six years in 2014. So getting almost 18 crores by selling rights for only a series is quite surprising.
For now, due to pandemic, the BCB will sell TV rights series by series.
