Bangladesh announce squad for ODI Series, Shanto and Hridoy ruled out
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will captain the team for the first time in a full ODI series.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed the squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and batter Towhid Hridoy missing out due to injuries.
Shanto is still recovering from a groin injury, and in his absence, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will captain the team for the first time in a full ODI series. Hridoy has also been declared unavailable by the BCB's medical team as he deals with groin issues.
"Hridoy had complained of pain in his right groin region, and subsequent investigations confirmed the presence of a medical condition. He has been advised to rest, and we will reassess him in two weeks to determine his readiness to play," said BCB Sports Physician Monzur Hossain Chowdhury.
Left-hander Afif Hossain has earned a recall to the ODI squad after a year, having last played in December 2023. Fellow left-hander Zakir Hasan, part of last month's ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE, has been dropped.
Litton Das, Parvez Hossain Emon, Hasan Mahmud, and Tanzim Sakib have also returned to the squad. Meanwhile, experienced players Mushfiqur Rahim, still recovering from injury, and Mustafizur Rahman, on leave for family reasons, will miss the series.
Fast bowler Nahid Rana, who impressed during his debut against Afghanistan, has retained his place in the team.
All matches of the series will be held in St Kitts, with the first ODI scheduled for 8 December.
