Bangladesh bowled out cheaply in a disappointing batting display
On Sunday in Gwalior, Bangladesh failed to bat for the full 20 overs in the first T20 of the three-match series against India. They were bowled out for 127 in 19.5 overs. The highest-scoring innings came from Miraz, who returned to the shortest format after a long time.
The disappointment of losing a wicket in the first over deepened in the second over. Bangladesh continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. At one stage, hope was rekindled through the batting of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain.
However, their partnership did not flourish either. Despite battling till the end with the tailenders, Miraz, who returned to the T20 team after nearly 15 months, could not post a big total for the team.

Among the recognised batsmen, only captain Najmul Hossain Shanto showed some resistance. In a disappointing batting performance, the others joined a procession of quick dismissals.
In the first over, Liton Das departed for 4 off 2 balls, caught off the bowling of Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh. Despite showing signs of a good start, Parvez Hossain Emon, who returned to the team after nearly two years, failed to capitalise on it. The left-handed opener was dismissed for 8 off 9 balls in the third over, once again off Arshdeep.
At the third wicket, captain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy attempted to stabilise the innings. They put together a partnership of 26 runs. Trying to accelerate the run rate, Hridoy was caught at long-on after scoring 12 runs off 18 balls, including two boundaries.
Bangladesh lost their third wicket for 40 runs. In this difficult situation, Mahmudullah Riyad was dismissed soon after arriving at the crease. The experienced batsman was caught at deep point for 1 off 2 balls, trying to play an aggressive shot.
Zakir Ali sparked some hope with a big six, but he too couldn't stay for long. Failing to read a delivery from India's leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, he was bowled for 8 off 6 balls, including one six. Meanwhile, Shanto remained at the crease.
He built a partnership of 18 runs with Miraz for the next wicket. Before falling victim to Washington Sundar, Shanto scored 27 runs off 25 balls, with one boundary and one six.
At 75 for six, Miraz and Rishad brought back some hope. Both batsmen played in a T20 fashion, adding 18 runs off 11 balls for the seventh wicket. Trying to play a big shot, Rishad was caught after scoring 11 runs off 5 balls, with one boundary and one six. Miraz fought on with the tailenders.
The right-handed all-rounder remained unbeaten on 35 off 32 balls, including three boundaries. Taskin Ahmed contributed 12 runs off 13 balls. India's Arshdeep and Varun took three wickets each, while Hardik, Mayank, and Washington claimed one wicket each.
