BCB has not received any match-fixing allegations during DPL: Jalal Yunus

In a Dhaka Premier League match on Monday, Old DOHS batter Pritom Kumar decided to leave a wide yorker with three runs to win off the last ball. Brothers Union won the match in the most extraordinary manner by two runs. Kumar immediately signalled that it should have been a wide but the umpire thought otherwise. This has sparked a massive outrage in the social media with netizens suggesting that the match was rigged.

But Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the media committee of the BCB, dismissed the match-fixing claims and said, "We haven't received any complaints. You know, we don't tolerate match-fixing. I have seen many people claiming that the match was fixed. But we haven't received any report from the ACU (Anti-Corruption Unit)."

Member Secretary of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) Ali Hossain, who watched the match live at the ground, echoed Jalal Yunus' words. "I was there at the ground. Even after watching the last over, I didn't think the match could be fixed. Also, there was no complaints from either of the teams. And I don't think the last ball was wide. The most important thing is that the umpire didn't call it a wide," said Ali Hossain to The Business Standard.
