Karate trainees acquire black belts for the first time in Bangladesh
The process was extremely rigorous, with the applicants doing ten types of drills including 5-kilometre marathon run, 1000 times skipping, 50 push-ups, 100 jump squats, 2-minute handstands.
Four Karate students have acquired the Shinkyokushinkai Karate black belt having undergone the test in Bangladesh itself. Apart from that, a student with first-dan black belt passed the second dan.
The final round of the tests took place at the Sultana Kamal Sports Complex in Dhanmondi on December 19. The students who passed the test were awarded the black belt. The tests took place in the presence of local members of the WKO led by the central trainer of its Bangladesh branch Shihan Abdullah Mohammad Hossain. At least one hundred students and members were also present during this event.
Previously, the Bangladeshi students had to go to Japan or other countries to give the black belt test. But this is the first time it took place in Bangladesh, in 'KO Fighting Studio' to be exact.

The students' ability to punch, block and kick were also examined. On the second day, the students displayed 'Kata', broke wood blocks and participated in one-minute fights with 10 contestants.
"Shinkyokushinkai, the most advanced form of full-contact Karate, has been in vogue in 101 countries including Bangladesh and the WKO has plans to expand it to 22 more countries," said Shihan Abdullah Mohammad Hossain.
"It is not only a form of sport but also a way of freehand self defense. Martial Arts are always important in order to form a society free from crime," he added.
