Mashrafe requests board not to renew his central contract
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan has said that Mashrafe had called him and asked to not be included in the upcoming central contract of the board.
There have been a lot of discussions in recent times regarding Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza's retirement from international cricket since it was rumoured that the veteran seamer was to leave the international field after the World Cup.
Mashrafe though did not retire after the World Cup but has not yet featured for the Tigers since the World Cup. The talks about his retirement sparked again in a post-match press conference as Mashrafe said that many have already retired him. He also added that he is enjoying the game and will enjoy further on.
But in a recent turn of events, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan, after the annual board meeting of the BCB, has said that Mashrafe had called him and asked to not be included in the upcoming central contract of the board.

Nazmul also added on Mashrafe's explanation behind his wish as the 36-year old was willing to leave his place for someone else who needed this opportunity to go ahead in the future.
Nazmul said that they had agreed with what Mashrafe had to say and there is a possibility that Mashrafe will not be included in the central contract, which is likely to be announced on January 15.
Mashrafe was in the A+ category of the previous central contract along with Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad. Shakib is another one who is set to be cut off from the contract as the allrounder is under a ban from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Other changes were announced regarding the central contract as Nazmul added that there will be different contracts for all three formats. The central contracts were likely to be handed out on Sunday but the proposed list was not accepted and was asked for further modifications as the board felt that the new players doing well should be included in the contract.
The board meeting also saw match fees for all three formats increase as the match fees have increased to 2,00,000 tk in T20s from 1,25,000 tk; 3,00,000 tk in ODIs from 2,00,000 tk and 6,00,000 tk in Tests from 3,50,000 tk.
