Mominul tests positive for Covid-19
Mominul Haque, Bangladesh national team skipper for Tests, has tested positive for Covid-19.
Mominul Haque, Bangladesh national team skipper for Tests, has tested positive for Covid-19. The participation of the southpaw in the Bangabandhu T20 cup, therefore, is not certain.
Mominul himself confirmed the news to The Business Standard (TBS). "Yes, I have tested positive. I underwent the test yesterday. I had a slight fever the previous day. Now it's gone and there is no problem with respiration as well," he said.
He has isolated himself at his residence. "Now I have to stay isolated at home. I have to be careful for the next few days. I was extra careful before too. However it has happened, I have to be more careful now," Mominul added.
His wife Fariha Bashar has also tested positive for Covid-19.
Earlier, T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad tested positive for Covid-19 and could not fly to Pakistan to take part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he was picked by Multan Sultans as a replacement for Moeen Ali.
So, the participation of Mominul Haque in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 cup will depend on how quickly he recovers and pass the fitness test.
Akram Khan, the chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board's cricket operations, informed that the players' draft will probably take place on November 11 and around 160 players have been listed for the draft so far. Few things are yet to be finalised.
Players will be divided into four categories - A, B, C, and D. Five icon players will be in grade A and the rest will be among the other three categories.
BCB is yet to finalise the price of the players in different categories. But it has been assumed that icon players will get 15 lakhs while the 'D' grade players will get a minimum of 5 lakhs for the tournament. Other prize money will be announced later.
