Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga champions, committing his future to the club until 2030.
The 21-year-old has already established himself as a key figure for both club and country, making nearly 200 appearances for Bayern since breaking into the first team.
"I took my first steps in professional football here and firmly believe we can achieve something big with this club in the coming years," Musiala said. "We've got a lot of things we want to achieve. I'm excited for everything that's to come."
The announcement comes on the eve of Bayern's crucial Bundesliga clash against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern currently hold an eight-point lead over their closest rivals with 13 matches remaining.
According to reports from Bild, Musiala's new contract includes a two-tier release clause. If activated two years before the deal expires, the clause is set at €175 million (£150m), but it drops to €100 million in the final year. The extension also places Musiala among Bayern's highest earners, alongside England captain Harry Kane, with an annual salary of €25 million.
His previous contract, last renewed in 2021, was set to run until 2026. A product of Chelsea's academy, Musiala represented England at youth level before choosing to play for Germany in 2021 at just 17 years old. Since then, he has earned 38 caps and scored seven goals for the national team.
Musiala joined Bayern in 2019 and made his senior debut in June 2020, becoming the club's youngest-ever Bundesliga player at the time. He was part of the squad that won the Champions League later that year, though he did not feature in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl hailed Musiala as a central figure in the club's future.
"He is shaping the present at Bayern and will also shape the future," Eberl said. "Players like him allow us to send out a clear message to everyone that Bayern are a force to be reckoned with in the years ahead."
Seen as the long-term successor to Thomas Müller in Bayern's attacking midfield, Musiala is currently enjoying one of his most prolific seasons, scoring 15 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions—just one short of his tally from the previous campaign.
