“A rapist is ugly in mentality, not in appearance”
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has also joined the protest. Tigers’ most successfu ODI captain has posted an anti-rape post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday.
Bangladesh has recently seen rape and violence against women increasing at an alarming rate. News of rape or women violence is being printed almost everyday. The latest incident of violence against a woman by 14-15 men in Noakhali's Begumganj has shaken the whole country.
People from all walks of life are protesting through social media. Human chains against rape are being formed.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has also joined the protest. Tigers' most successful ODI captain has posted an anti-rape post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday.
Mashrafe wrote, "When your daughter is sitting on your lap, you do not feel 'that feeling'. When your sister lives in the next room, you still do not feel that. When you go out with your wife, and someone else awfully stares at her, you feel bad. But do we get this same feeling while looking at others?"
Mashrafe added further calling for a change of mindset, "If that is not the case, then you have problems in your brain. Maybe not everyone expresses their desires because of their surroundings. Let women live with their heads held high. And rapist has no identity. He is ugly, maybe not in appearance, but in mentality."
Apart from Mashrafe, Mushfiqur Rahim too has posted against rape and violence. The experienced cricketer wrote, "We cannot stay silent anymore. Rape or any kind of sexual harassment can never be tolerated, it has no space in the society. Wake up Bangladesh. Say no to rape. No means NO."
Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan posted on his Facebook page declaring his firm position against rape.
