Shakib and Tamim set to clash in Legend 90 League next month
Although the two have had a strained relationship in recent years, cricket fans will see them playing in the same competition but representing different teams.
Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, two of Bangladesh cricket's greatest players, will participate in the upcoming Legend Ninety League, a tournament featuring former cricketers.
Although the two have had a strained relationship in recent years, cricket fans will see them playing in the same competition but representing different teams.
Shakib has already signed with Dubai Giants, while Tamim has joined the Big Boys Squad. Tamim confirmed his participation in a video message shared on the Legend Ninety League's official Facebook page.
He stated, "I am thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the Legend Ninety League. I will be playing for the Big Boys. Watch me and other cricket legends play live in Raipur from 6 to 18 February. It's going to be legendary, see you there!"
The announcement comes as Tamim transitions from international cricket, having recently retired from the Bangladesh national team.
His farewell came in July 2024 through a heartfelt Facebook post, marking the end of a remarkable career for one of the country's finest batters. Tamim is currently leading Fortune Barishal in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Meanwhile, Shakib, who announced his retirement from Test and T20 cricket during Bangladesh's tour of India last year, had planned to retire from ODIs after the Champions Trophy.
However, an eye condition affecting his batting, along with a suspension from bowling due to action-related issues, has kept him away from international and domestic cricket.
The Legend Ninety League will take place in Raipur from 6 to 18 February, bringing together cricket legends for what promises to be an exciting event.
