Tamim likely to miss Dhaka Platoon’s next match
Tamim is suffering from a viral fever.
Star batsman Tamim Iqbal is highly unlikely to play the Dhaka Platoon's first match in the Chattogram phase of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) due to a viral fever.
Tamim did not travel to Chattogram with the team due to the illness.
"Tamim is having viral fever and he is not going to Chattogram with the team," the BCB chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said today.
"He will be staying in the hospital and we can only tell you about his updates after assessing his condition tomorrow," he said.
All the teams are currently staying in the port city to prepare for the Chattogram phase of the tournament. Dhaka Platoon will begin its Chattogram phase of BBPL by taking on Chattogram Challengers on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Tamim also sustained groin injury during the match against Sylhet Thunder but according to Dhaka Platoon head coach Mohammad Salahuddin, they are not worried as the injury did not appear to be very serious.
"I don't think the groin injury is very serious," Salahuddin said.
"He did not travel with the team as he was having severe fever and we can only have a clear picture about him after getting the medical report in our hand," he said.
Though Tamim made just five runs in the first match of the BBPL against Rajshahi Royals, the left-handed opener shrugged off his prolonged lean patch with a dazzling 74 runs knock against Cumilla Warriors.
