Taskin’s record-breaking spell in BPL places him among the best in T20 history
It was his second-ever five-wicket haul in the format, making it a day to remember for the pacer and Rajshahi fans alike.
Taskin Ahmed made history in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a spectacular performance that has firmly etched his name in the tournament's records.
The Rajshahi pacer delivered a stunning spell of 4-0-19-7 against Dhaka Capitals
While Dhaka managed to post a challenging total of over 170 runs, it was Taskin who stole the limelight. His seven-wicket haul, conceded at just 19 runs, is now the best bowling performance in BPL history, surpassing Pakistan's Mohammad Amir's previous record of 6 wickets for 17 runs.
This achievement places Taskin among the finest in the world, as his record now stands as the third-best T20 bowling performance of all time. Malaysia's Syazrul Idrus leads the list with a 4-0-8-7 spell against China on 26 July 2023, followed by CN Ackermann of Leicestershire, who took 7 wickets for 18 runs in a T20 match against Birmingham Bears in 2019.
It was his second-ever five-wicket haul in the format, making it a day to remember for the pacer and Rajshahi fans alike.
It all started with Litton Das. The opening batsman was sent packing for a duck, caught off Yasir Ali Rabi after facing just five balls. Taskin Ahmed then removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim, further crippling Dhaka's batting lineup. Shahadat Hossain Dipu tried to steady the ship, managing a gritty 50 from 40 balls, but Taskin proved too much to handle. The pacer sent him back to the pavilion, keeping Dhaka on the back foot.
Taskin's devastating spell didn't end there. He dispatched Chaturanga de Silva, Alauddin Babu, and Mukidul Islam in quick succession, ensuring that no batsman could stick around.
