In a rain-affected game reduced to 17 overs, Bangladesh batted first and posted 122 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Sri Lanka, in response, were restricted to 94 runs for eight wickets.

The match, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, saw Sri Lanka reach 47 for 2 in just seven overs while chasing. However, tight bowling spells from Farzana Yasmin, Sumaiya Akter, and others slowed the scoring rate and triggered regular dismissals. Despite not being bowled out, Sri Lanka fell short, finishing well under the target.
Captain Sumaiya Akter claimed three wickets for 12 runs, while Farzana Yasmin and Nishitha Akter took two wickets each.
Earlier, after being sent to bat, Bangladesh's innings was propped up by several short but impactful knocks. Lower-order batter Sadia Akter scored 31 off 25 balls, including three sixes, while Afia Asima (25 off 23), Sumaiya Akter (24 off 21), and Mosammat Eva (18 off 19) made valuable contributions.
Bangladesh's next match in the tournament is tomorrow, against hosts Malaysia. The six-team Asia Cup is split into two groups. The other group includes India, Pakistan, and Nepal, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage.
