A taste of tradition: Reviving Bangla's culinary heritage
Peyari Tehari celebrates the authentic tastes of Bangladeshi Tehari, blending tradition with innovation. What began in a small cloud kitchen has grown into a brand with global ambitions
Meet four dynamic entrepreneurs—Dr Umme Sayeda, a doctor; Akeb Khan, a software engineer; Momith Hossain, a business graduate; and Dipto Biswas, a DJ and engineer. Bringing together their diverse skills and Canadian experiences, they launched Chattogram's first professional cloud kitchen during the pandemic.
Their mission? To deliver "safe and hygienic restaurant-quality food" straight to homes across the city.
What started in a humble 150-square-foot kitchen quickly grew into a recipe for success, fueled by creativity and passion. Today, their flagship brand, Peyari Tehari, is a household name in Chattogram. With three outlets and a city-wide delivery service, it celebrates the rich, authentic flavours of Bangla Tehari.
At the heart of their operations is a state-of-the-art 3,000-square-foot central kitchen. This facility not only supports Peyari Tehari but also powers several other thriving food and beverage brands, showcasing the team's entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality.
Preserving heritage, One Matka at a time
The team is passionate about blending modern food services with Bangladeshi heritage. Their branding incorporates traditional pottery, the fading art of rickshaw painting, and nostalgic nods to 1990s Bangla cinema.
To keep these traditions alive, they collaborate with artisans from southern Bangladesh to craft clay pots (Matka) specifically for Peyari Tehari. These pots not only add authenticity but also enhance the dining experience. Additionally, rickshaw artists contribute vibrant, handcrafted decor to their outlets, creating an ambience steeped in cultural charm.
Peyari Tehari: An end-to-end Tehari Experience
At the heart of Peyari Tehari's success is its star dish, the "Ghee Beef Tehari," inspired by the nostalgic charm of "Mum's homemade tehari." They've reimagined the classic Chatgaiya Ghee Beef Tehari, crafting a unique flavour that has taken Chattogram by storm.
Not stopping there, they've also delighted food lovers by perfecting the timeless Dhakaiya Shorisha Tehari, bringing the rich, bold flavours of Puran Dhaka to the table. Their menu is a celebration of Bangladeshi culinary heritage, offering a flavorful journey across the country.
Served in beautiful clay pots crafted by local artisans, these dishes deliver an authentic Bangla experience with every bite, winning the hearts of food enthusiasts throughout Chattogram.
