What are the previous US presidents doing now?

The United States has had some of the most successful and controversial presidents in history. Some were renowned for combating challenges, while some appeared on frequent headlines by making absurd comments.  While everyone has seen the president's in the limelight, most don't know how they are spending their time out of it. 

So, let's take a look at how the former living Presidents of the US are spending their time after retirement from the presidency.  

Donald Trump

Donald Trump the 45th and the most recent former president of the United States has been a centre of multiple controversies. Currently, he is facing a criminal investigation against him in New York. 

Trump's presidency years acted as a shield against his prosecution, but the protection fades as his presidency ends. Even though the nature of the crime investigation made to him is not clear, Trump has been a suspect of Tax fraud and rape earlier. Trump denies being involved in any controversies and terms the investigation as a Political vendetta, reported BBC.   

Trump is yet not ready to accept his defeat in the election; he has filed cases in 6 states claiming the fraudulent of votes in the recent election and left no stone unturned to dismiss the result of the election. 

However, he has lost 60 cases, and the Government of Joe Biden-Kamala Harris was formed without any obstruction. In his first interview at his daughter in law Lara Trump's podcast The Right Viewafter after the end of his presidency, Trump hinted at the possibilities of running for the White House again in 2024. 

Though Trump did not participate in the video regarding the Covid-19 vaccination awareness that all other living former presidents attended, Trump said the Covid-19 vaccine should be named "Trumpcine" for his contribution to the development of Vaccines. 

In January 2021, Trump's Twitter account was banned, and his Facebook account was suspended for instigating violence through his posts. The ban and suspension of his social accounts have not stopped him from using the digital platform. He launched a website that recalls praises of his time in the White House. The audiences are not allowed to comment on the website but can read the content posted on it.

Barack Obama

Barak Obama, or Barack Hussein Obama II, was the 44th President of the United States who served from 2009 to 2017. He was one of the presidents who was not a critique of his successor. However, the increased death toll of the Corona Virus and the killing of George Floyd during Trump's Presidency had made Obama anxious. 

Even though Obama is not directly associated with politics, he often holds conversations with young generations to enlighten them and bring a positive change in society and in the lives of African American. 

People were sceptical about the science behind vaccines. The former President and the former first lady took the vaccines in public to install people's trust in the vaccines and inspired them to be vaccinated.

He is also one of the presidents who did not leave Washington right after completing his Presidency. He brought a 9-bedroom house with $8.1 million in the Kalorama neighbourhood of Washington. 

Following his Presidency, Barack and Michelle Obama received a joint of $65 million in advance from Penguin Random House's Crown Publishing group for writing their respective memoirs.  

His memoir 'On Promise Land' was published in November 2019. Michel's Book 'Becoming' debuted in 2018, was a huge success, selling around 10 million copies.

Obama was also seen in election campaigns of his friend and political ally Joe Biden. He praised Biden for being experienced and knowledgeable.  

Obama has announced the groundbreaking of the Obama Presidential Centre on February 2021. OPC will be constructed on the south side of Chicago, where Barack Obama met his wife, Michelle. 

OPC will include Park, children's playground, museum, library etc. and create employment opportunities for people. Obama is the first who is constructing a library in a presidential centre. 

This project is likely to give jobs to 5000 people during and after its construction may attract 70,000 tourists per year; which will help to accelerate the economy of Chicago and its nearby cities. 

George W Bush

George Walker Bush was the 43rd President (2001 – 2009) of the US. His retirement is going in a different manner. Last month, Bush went out for a virtual tour to promote his recent book of painting 'Out of Many, One: Portraits of America's Immigrants', which included 43 portraits of immigrants highlighting their inspiring journey and contributions made for the United States of America. 

He has also made a joint TV appearance with Barack Obama and Clinton following the inauguration of Joe Biden's Presidency, where the three were presented as the advocates of democracy. He also posts videos, raising awareness about the Covid-19 vaccination. 

However, his latest book wasn't well-received by people who remember his illegal invasion of Iraq and resistance to LGBTQ+ rights. 

After his presidency, the former president Bush returned to Midland, and promptly took up residence at his beloved Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas. Later on, He bought another home in an exclusive Dallas neighbourhood near Southern Methodist University, where he became a part of the Dallas community. 

After the end of his Presidency, he was passing his time quite enjoyably by biking, golfing, reading American history and painting. Bush began painting, primarily producing portraits of his pets and world leaders with whom he came into contact while serving as the President. 

He was also very involved with the George W Bush Institute that he established at SMU. This Institute was created for the purpose of continuing discussions about the best policies to foster economic growth, human freedom, education, global health, and various women's initiatives. 

In 2010, he published a memoir named Decision Points, which gave personal insight into his policy decisions and experiences as President. 

Bush's charity work was quite extensive, with several efforts devoted to fundraising for wounded veterans, including an annual 100-kilometre mountain bike ride and the Warrior Open Golf Tournament. 

He also took trips to Africa to raise awareness for cervical cancer. In 2014, he published a biography of his father on Veteran's day. 

William Jefferson Clinton (Bill Clinton)

William Jefferson Clinton, widely known as Bill Clinton, was the 42nd President (1993 – 2001) of the US.

After Bill Clinton left the White House, he moved to Chappaqua, New York, the home base of that state's junior member of the United States Senate, Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton was one of the youngest men ever in the history of the United States of America to depart the Presidency. 

The former President kept himself busy with some post-presidential activities: writing a memoir and overseeing the creation of his presidential library in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

Clinton is still involved both actively and passively in various public and political issues. He was even very engaged in Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016 and in the latest presidential campaign between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. 

Clinton still retains a reputation as one of the most astute political analysts within the Democratic Party. Currently, he is attached to the work of the Clinton Presidential Foundation. The Foundation's agenda includes combating HIV/AIDS, fostering racial and ethnic reconciliation, and promoting the economic empowerment of poor people.
