154 Bangladeshi migrants return from Libya
They were welcomed by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
A total of 154 Bangladeshi nationals who were living in Libya returned to the country today (20 September).
A chartered flight of Buraq Air (UZ) carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7am this morning.
They were welcomed by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, and IOM ensured the safe return of the expatriates who have been residing in Libya as irregular citizens.
IOM provided Tk6000 to each of the returnees along with some food items, medical treatment and temporary accommodation where necessary.
The foreign ministry, Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli and IOM are working tirelessly to arrange the safe repatriation of Bangladeshi nationals detained in various detention centers in Libya.
